The Impact of Using the Four Corners Strategy on Developing Speaking Skills among Arabic Language Learners who Speak Other Languages

Abstract
This study aims to measure the effect of a proposed program based on the Four Corners Strategy in developing speaking skills among learners of Arabic as a foreign language. The researcher employed both the descriptive method and the quasi-experimental method. To achieve the study objectives, the following tools and materials were prepared: a list of speaking skills, an observation checklist for measuring speaking skills, and a proposed program for developing speaking skills among Level Two students at the Institute of Arabic Language Teaching at the Islamic University. The study sample consisted of 21 Level Two students. The main findings revealed statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between the mean scores of the sample in the pre- and post-observation of speaking skills, in favor of the post- observation. The proposed program based on the Four Corners Strategy was found to have a strong effect on developing the speaking skills of Level Two students at the Institute. Based on these results, the study presented several recommendations as well as suggestions for future research to further build upon these findings.
