The Mediation Role of Intellectual Capital Between Institutional Efficiency and the Quality of University Performance in Qassim University

Abstract

This study aims to explore the mediation role of intellectual capital by analyzing the institutional efficiency and the quality of academic performance at Qassim University. The study used a descriptive–analytical research method, structured questionnaire was used as the primary instrument for data collection, and only 202 faculty members were included. The research Model and Hypothesis were examined by using  Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS version 4.1.1. The results supported the mediating role of intellectual capital in the relationship between institutional efficiency and the quality of academic performance, as improving institutional efficiency not only strengthens organizational processes but also fosters the development of intellectual capital, ultimately leading to higher academic performance. Accordingly, the study recommends that university leaders prioritize strategic investments in faculty development through advancement of knowledge management systems and the enhancement of relational capital with internal and external stakeholders. Furthermore, institutions should reform with intellectual capital development strategies to improve academic performance quality.
