The Gap Between the Level of Theoretical Knowledge and Practical Application Among Student Teachers of Mathematics at Al-Jouf University

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the multiple knowledge and practical application of students interested in mathematics at Al-Jouf University. A new study was formed of (70) students who were graduates of the College of Science - Mathematics major at the branches of Al-Jouf University (Sakaka, Al-Qurayyat, Tabarjal). The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach. To achieve the study's objective, two scales were developed: the first to measure the extent to which student teachers of mathematics possess theoretical knowledge in light of professional standards, and the second to measure the extent to which student teachers of mathematics are able to apply it practically in light of professional standards. Their validity and reliability were verified. The results indicated a clear gap between the level of theoretical knowledge and practical application among student teachers of mathematics at Al-Jouf University. The results also showed no statistically significant differences attributable to gender The study recommended strengthening the link between theoretical knowledge and practical application among mathematics teacher trainees by developing training programs and applied courses that align with professional teacher standards.
