The Impact of Social Empowerment on the Quality of Life of Low-Income Families in Riyadh

Abstract

The study aims to determine the level of social empowerment that contributes to achieving the quality of life for low-income families in Riyadh. It identifies the criteria used to evaluate the impact of empowerment programs and monitor the most prominent obstacles that limit their effectiveness. This study adopts a descriptive, analytical survey approach. The research sample was randomly selected, and the final sample of the study consisted of (382) participants from low-income families in Riyadh. The findings showed that low-income families in Riyadh demonstrate a medium to high level of social empowerment, given the availability of services and fair treatment, while emphasizing the need for further empowerment in the areas of community participation, skill development, and influence. It also revealed that the criteria used to evaluate the impact of social empowerment programs are well applied, and that these programs have a positive and tangible impact on several aspects of quality of life, particularly in the areas of health, education, and family stability. Furthermore, these families face a range of interconnected obstacles, including awareness-raising, financial, and organizational aspects, which calls for integrated interventions to ensure the effectiveness of social empowerment programs and achieve the targeted quality of life.
