Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed training program based on learning by doing to develop academic writing skills among students of Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods at Taibah University, in light of the standards for writing academic papers. To achieve this, the descriptive and quasi-experimental approaches with a single group. The proposed training program based on learning by doing was designed, as well as an attitude scale and an academic writing skills test. Kirkpatrick's questionnaire was adopted to measure the quality of the training program. The sample consisted of (34) male and female students from Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods at Taibah University. The study concluded that the experimental group's attitude toward the proposed training program based on learning by doing for developing academic writing skills was positive. The study also found the program to be effective in developing the academic writing skills of students in the Arabic language curriculum and teaching methods program. Furthermore, the participants strongly agreed with the program's quality in developing their academic writing skills, based on the standards for writing academic papers. The study recommended that the proposed program be implemented and integrated into the curriculum.
