Organizational commitment and its relationship to the level of job performance among school principals in the General Directorate of Education in Jazan Region

Abstract

 his research aimed to examine identify the level of organizational commitment and determine the level of job performance from the perspectives of school principals in the General Administration of Education in the Jazan region, as well as to examine differences in principals’ responses regarding the level of organizational commitment according to the variables of gender and years of experience, and to explore the relationship between organizational commitment and job performance. The study adopted the descriptive survey method, and two questionnaires were developed to measure the levels of organizational commitment and job performance. These questionnaires were administered to a random sample of 243 male and female school principals in the General Administration of Education in Jazan. The results revealed that the levels of organizational commitment and job performance among school principals were very high, with overall mean scores of 161.78 and 155.7, respectively, and all six dimensions of both variables fell within the very high level. The findings also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level in organizational commitment attributable to gender or years of experience, while a statistically significant positive correlation was found at the 0.01 level between organizational commitment and job performance, with a correlation coefficient of 0.737. In light of these results, the study recommended establishing a system for exchanging experiences among male and female school principals through workshops and regular professional sessions, in addition to presenting several proposals.
