Awareness of the ethics of using artificial intelligence among female graduate students at the College of Education at King Saud University

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the level of awareness regarding the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) among post-graduate students at the College of Education, King Saud University. It also sought to identify the perceived obstacles to ethical AI usage and to determine whether statistically significant differences exist in students’ awareness based on the variables of academic department and level of study.
A questionnaire was employed as the primary data collection instrument, and it was administered to a sample of 338 post-graduate students from the College of Education at King Saud University. The study yielded several key findings. Most notably, the students demonstrated a very high level of awareness of AI ethics, with a mean score of 4.36 out of 5.00. Meanwhile, the perceived impact of challenges related to the ethical use of AI was moderate, with a mean score of 3.03 out of 5.00. Furthermore, the analysis revealed no statistically significant differences in students’ awareness of AI ethics based on their academic department or level of study. Based on these findings, the study recommends encouraging post-graduate students to utilize AI applications in academic research in accordance with established ethical guidelines and legal frameworks that safeguard individual rights and privacy. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of promoting ethical principles and values associated with AI use in educational contexts and enhancing positive and responsible AI practices.
