Population Dimension and Its Impact on Sustainable Development in Light of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030: The Case of Hail Region

Abstract

This research examines the demographic aspect of the Ha’il region in Saudi Arabia and its impact on achieving sustainable development projects and ideas, in light of the Kingdom’s direction toward attaining the highest levels of citizen welfare, ensuring a decent standard of living, and providing numerous projects and job opportunities to realize sustainable development under Saudi Vision 2030. The study relies on the descriptive and analytical methods, employing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to collect, process, and analyze data related to the Ha’il region. It highlights the region’s key characteristics and demographic resources that support the success of sustainable development plans and objectives, while identifying population growth trends, distribution, and demographic features in Ha’il. The research focuses particularly on the demographic dimension, as development is fundamentally centered on fulfilling human aspirations. In addition, it explores the goals and dimensions of sustainable development and the role of the demographic factor in achieving them.
